Andres Jimenez, better known as Dilemastronauta, is not just a musician or producer—he's a pioneering force in the world of Tropical Futuristic music. Born in Colombia and having spent 25 transformative years in the dynamic cultural hub of New York, Dilemastronauta has carved out a bold, genre-defying path with his innovative sound.

His groundbreaking albums, En Órbita (2017) and the 8 Supernovas mixtape (2020), have redefined the boundaries of music, while his 2024 single "Llegó" further amplifies his distinct vision.

Each release is a vibrant tapestry of percussive folkloric traditions, swirling psychedelia, and audacious improvisational experimentation—an otherworldly blend that pulls listeners into a cosmic journey of sound. With a drumming style as unpredictable as it is captivating, Dilemastronauta is reshaping the landscape of modern Latin music, boldly exploring the intersections of past and future, roots and innovation.

On November 7, 2025, Dilemastronauta y La Tripulación Cósmica released SLEEPWALK, a vinyl LP on Figure and Ground Records featuring a full-length 5 track album. The release explores hypnotic, the Colombian Millo flute as well as rooted rhythms of the Caribbean layered with experimental synth textures, offering a deep glimpse into his evolving sonic universe. A music video is set for release in Spring 2026.

"Dilemastronauta — the musical project of Combo Chimbita drummer Andres Jimenez — took raved-up cumbia beats and tropical grooves, undergirded by syncopated blasts of percussion, and shot them straight into space on lysergic swirls of twinkling electronics." - New Haven Independent

SLEEPWALK" is the latest LP coming out on Figure and Ground Records.

“This project was born out of a musical residency in Bushwick at a place called Sleepwalk. I wanted to understand and play with the Millo flute, which is a tiny but powerful flute born in the Colombian Northern coast.

I was curious to hear  how it would sound in a non-traditional context. Therefore I invited Carlos Rienzo, who is the best Millo player in NYC..

We explored  traditional Millo songs which led to the creation of two originals. But these songs and the way we played them were created from interacting live in front of an audience. There were not a whole lot of rehearsals - most of the music that came out was the interaction between us - amongst musicians  and the audience. That was very exciting because it wasn’t this technical intellectual thing - it was actually in a dancing kind of context.”
